Pirate Hunters: Treasure, Obsession, and the Search for a Legendary Pirate Ship  – by Robert Kurson

Pirate Hunters is the third book by Robert Kurson.  The story follows John Chatterton and John Mattera, the two main characters from Kurson’s previous book, Shadow Divers.  This nonfiction is the story of these two friends’ quest to find a new prize – the Golden Fleece, ship of the infamous pirate Joseph Bannister. 

The story of Shadow Divers tracks the two mens’ path to friendship as they discover a sunken German U-boat off the Northeast shore.  Pirate Hunters finds them literally searching for sunken treasure as the skilled divers look for a famed pirate ship.  Both of Kurson’s books read like novels as the depths of the characters are explored.  There is also a fascinating historical element as the history of the piracy era is examined in detail.   

At 350 pages or eight hours, Pirate Hunters is an incredible read that is well worth your time.
