Subtitled “A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks”, this book is the autobiography of Mick Foley, the legendary pro wrestler. Naturally, this book caters to fans of pro wrestling but there is a story that will also appeal to a broader audience. Today, any wrestler with moderate fame has written a book. However, at the time of its publication in 1998, a pro wrestler’s autobiography was unheard of. Mick Foley’s book was the first of its kind and it started a trend that continues to this day.
In his book, the author details the ups and downs of his life as he carved out a meager existence in a taboo realm of entertainment to eventually being a featured player in an industry that had crossed over into mainstream. The baseline theme of the book is inspiring as you read about a guy who truly went all in on his dream and succeeded as a big long shot.
At over 700 pages, it’s a bit long but if you dig his story it’ll be well worth it.
