Born to Run by Christopher McDougall

Subtitled “A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen”, this book is the amazing story of the author’s journey to Mexico’s Copper Canyons to study the Tarahumara Indians, who were renowned for their legendary running abilities. More specifically, this tribe was known to have unbelievable endurance and were capable of running unimaginable distances.

The story is incredible for a number of reasons. One, any book or article that pulls a distant story from a remote area of the world is fascinating. Two, the feats of these individuals seem incomprehensible and even the most amatuer runner will find tips and inspiration from their abilities.

At 304 pages (hard cover) or 11 hours, it’s a medium length book that you’ll want to burn through in a matter of days.
