“Open” by Andre Agassi is one of the best books I’ve ever read (listened to, actually). It has been labeled a great sports autobiography, but it could lose the “sports” sub-category because it stands on its own as simply an incredible book. Part of its beauty is that Andre Agassi didn’t seem to have an ulterior motive for publishing it. He was retired. He was an undisputable legend of the annals of tennis. He wasn’t promoting anything. He could have lived the rest of his life without divulging the intimate details and insecurities of his life. Yet, he wrote a book revealing everything about himself anyway. You can only image how cathartic it must have felt for him and envision how heavy the weight of his “secrets” must have been.
I can’t say enough about this book. It’s 400 pages or 18 hours, but you’ll be sad that it has to end.
