Subtitled “My Philosophy of Leadership”, this book is a memoir on leadership by legendary 49ers coach, Bill Walsh. The story is an account of Walsh’s time as the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers and it outlines the principles he instilled during the humbling early years of his tenure and that contributed to the seasons that defined a dynasty. The book is fascinating from a historical perspective alone. However, the practicality of his philosophy is applicable across any type of business or life for that matter. I have multiple post-it notes scattered about with some of his brilliant, yet simple concepts.

At 288 pages or nearly 11 hours, it’s a medium length book that is easy to digest. I will preface that being at least a casual football fan increases the book’s appeal. Normally this would go without saying but the majority of negative reviews were from admitted non-football fans.
